Weapon Retention for the Armed Citizen

Weapon retention for the armed citizen teaches essential skills and principles to prevent an assailant from taking control of a firearm during a close-quarters physical altercation. It goes beyond marksmanship, emphasizing that a physical fight can occur before a gun can be effectively deployed.

This seminar involves learning how to maintain control of a firearm while it is in the holster, as well as techniques to defend against an attempted grab and to regain control if the weapon is already being contested. This will include physical maneuvers, body positioning, and understanding leverage.

This comprehensive seminar on weapon retention will incorporate theoretical instruction and practical exercises. Participants will learn about situational awareness to potentially avoid situations where weapon retention becomes necessary, as well as the legal and ethical considerations surrounding the use of force in self-defense scenarios.

Practical training involves using inert training firearms to practice techniques in a safe environment, including realistic scenarios under simulated stress. The goal is to equip armed citizens with the skills and knowledge to effectively retain their weapon and ensure it is not used against them.
